5 Of The Fastest Growing Retailers In New Jersey

These five retailers are continuing to open stores, and have a strong presence in New Jersey.

Many retail stores are closing up shop, but the complete demise of brick-and-mortar stores appears to have been greatly exaggerated.

There are 3,793,621 retail establishments in New Jersey that support about 42 million jobs, according to the National Retail Federation’s website. Below are five retailers that are opening stores this year, according to investment website The Motley Fool.

Dollar General: The store planned to open 1,000 stores this year, one year after expanding their footprint with about 900 ribbon-cuttings. Here is where you can find a Dollar General near you:

  • 1980 North Olden Avenue, Ewing;
  • 802 Prospect Street, Trenton;
  • 1242 Hamilton Avenue, Trenton;
  • 847 Roebling Avenue, Trenton;
  • 39 Route 130, Trenton;
  • 1170 East Route 130, Burlington;
  • 189 Jacobstown-New Egypt Road, Wrightstown; and
  • 437 East Main Street, Wrightstown.

Costco: This is one retailer that has been building slowly over the last several years, with 31 new warehouses set to open this year, including 17 nationally. Two years ago, they opened 23 stores and last year, there were 29 new Costco stores introduced to the world. In New Jersey, Costco can be found in the following locations:

  • 4100 Quakerbridge Road, Lawrence Township;
  • 100 Centerton Road, Mount Laurel;
  • 100 Grand Avenue, North Brunswick;
  • 18 Route 9 North, Morganville;
  • 465 Route 70, Brick;
  • 2a Walter E Foran Boulevard North, Flemington;
  • 325 Promenade Boulevard, Bridgewater; and
  • 205 Vineyard Road, Edison.

Walmart: Walmart planned to open 59 new stores nationally this year, including new Supercenters and Sam’s Club stores. Target: While Walmart is adding Supercenters, Target has decided to go with a different approach. Earlier this year, the retail giant announced it would open 100 “small format” stores, and redesign 600 of its current locations. Two such “small format” stores are coming to New Jersey, with stores opening soon in Haddon Township and Parsippany. Dick’s Sporting Goods: Dick’s was set to open 43 new stores, as well as nine of its Golf Galaxy stores this year. Some of these locations will be converted sporting goods stores the chain acquired from its rivals. In New Jersey, Dick’s Sporting Goods is currently open in the following locations:

  • Towne Crossing Shopping Center: 2703 Route 541, Suite 4, Burlington Township;
  • Nassau Park Pavilion: 530 Nassau Park Boulevard, Princeton;
  • East Gate Square: 1300 Nixon Drive, Mt Laurel;

  • Market Place At Garden State Park: 2130 Route 70 West, Cherry Hill;

  • Brick 70 Plaza, 487 Route 70 Brick
