Second Armed Robbery in Two Days Reported in Moorestown

This time, a masked gunman struck Romano's Service Station on Friday night. Police also released photos of Thursday's 7-11 armed robbery

For the second time in as many days, a lone masked gunman has committed an armed robbery in Moorestown.

This time, the gunman struck Romano’s Service Station on the 200 block of Chester Avenue at 9:26 p.m. Friday night, police said Saturday morning.

He threatened a 23-year-old attendant with a long-barreled handgun before escaping on foot with $300. The attendant was not injured.

The suspect is described as in his 20’s, 5’9,” thin build, black ski mask, dark colored hooded sweatshirt.

A similar incident took place at 7-11 on Lenola Road in which a masked gunman acting alone threatened a clerk with a gun around 2 a.m.

The suspect in that incident is described as a male with a thin build, black pants, dark colored hooded sweatshirt or jacket, and dark colored mask.

On Saturday morning, police released photos of the suspect involved in that incident. One of those photos is attached to this post.

Police didn’t initially indicate there was any connection between the two armed robberies.

Following Friday night’s robbery, there have been seven armed robberies reported in Moorestown this year.

Friday’s incident was the second time in two months Romano’s has been robbed at gunpoint. Police believe the same person who robbed Romano’s on Aug. 6 may be the same person who robbed the station Saturday morning, although they are in the early stages of the investigation, Lt. Lee Lieber said.

The service station’s owners are offering a reward for any information leading to an arrest in that case, and can be reached at 856-235-9716.
