Summer Camp Brings Generations Together at Cambridge

Back-to-school preparations may be in full swing across Burlington County, but that did not stop a group of local students from joining residents at Cambridge Enhanced Senior Living for some end-of-summer fun. The assisted living community in Moorestown hosted a Summer Camp Intergenerational Experience designed to bring together seniors and students in grades five through 12 for three days of unique and enriching activities.

The event offered a variety of collaborative experiences that were intended to appeal to both seniors and students. Participants had the opportunity to engage in shared hobbies such as arts and crafts, music, games and puzzles. They came together for meals and storytelling, and enjoyed interactive educational sessions on topics like technology and science. Dance sessions and gentle exercises encouraged physical activity and social interaction.

“Intergenerational programs like this offer invaluable benefits for everyone involved,” said Cambridge’s Meredith Tesch, life enrichment director. “Bringing together people from different age groups in a supportive environment where they can exchange ideas and learn from one another encourages empathy and mutual respect. And we hope that this experience has created both lasting memories and friendships between the students and our residents.”
