Unlikely Candidate, "Makes Bark 4 South Jersey Office''

Vendors of all kinds filled Shore Town Ballpark with the latest and coolest gadgets and gizmos that a person could ever want for their precious pooch. With over 400 stuffed gift baskets up for grabs, the crowds didn't disappoint as cheers rang out around the ball field for all the winners.

In the afternoon, word spread of a possible dog run. Pet lovers seemed to have a

renewed interest in taking selfies with a dog named Loki. He's a Doberman Pinscher who was saved by the team at “Rescue Ridge” an organization that dedicates itself to saving the lives of pets at the Jersey Shore in Howell, Township, NJ.

Information was scant. When asked about the heightened security around the rescued Doberman, A spokesperson from “Rescue Ridge” would only say that Loki is showing interest in running for Political Office. A dog running for political office, what a great fundraising idea! Can you imagine the funny puns that would get you giggling? Like, ‘Canine-date’ Takes First Bite. Canine-date Has Loudest Bark.

But could a dog or cat actually run for political office? That is an interesting question. Believe it

or not, it's more common than you think. “Pawlitics” goes back to 1938 when a community in the state of Washington elected Committeeman, “Boston Curtis the Mule.” Or when “Mayor Stubbs the Cat” held
office in a small town in Alaska in 1997. Stubbs was a cat who was the honorary mayor of Talkeetna, Alaska, from July 18, 1997, until his death in 2017 at the age of 20.
Stubbs was widely described as having been elected after a write-in campaign by voters who
opposed the human candidates, He soon became a tourist attraction.
Then there was Bosco, a Black Labrador-Rottweiler, who was elected mayor of Sunol, CA. Who
can forget the most famous dog of them all, “Mayor Max” from Idyllwild, CA, in 2012? Just about
anything goes in today’s world if you have the money to make it happen.
An honest political run might just bear fruit in a state like New Jersey. The election board wouldn't really want to challenge the
inception of man's evolution. Or the 1990 Civil Rights law that prohibits discrimination against a candidate or
individuals with disabilities. There are so many new laws on the books that if Loki ran for office--He
