Wanted in South Jersey: Janae Heffernan

Heffernan allegedly sold items stolen in a West Deptford burglary last year.

Janae Heffernan, 31, of National Park, is wanted for failure to appear in Superior Court, Woodbury for a status conference on a charge of receiving stolen property.

Heffernan is 5’4”, 156 pounds and has blue eyes and brown hair. She has tattoos on her right wrist, right ankle and left shoulder.

Heffernan is charged with selling$14,133 in jewelry stolen by West Deptford resident Daniel M. Thomson.

All told, Thomson was charged with stealing about $24,000 in electronics and jewelry in a pair of West Deptford burglaries last year.

Heffernan allegedly sold the items along with her boyfriend, Michael J. Whyte, of Gloucester City.

Whyte was initially arrested as a suspect in the burglaries on July 30, 2014.

During an interview, Whyte provided a statement advising that he was not involved in the burglary, but he knew the property was stolen and that he sold the items at various second hand dealers for Thomson.

Whyte also admitted to receiving a sum of money from Thomson for selling the items. Whyte was issued summonses for receiving stolen property and released on a summons pending court.

Later that day, Thomson was arrested at a residence in Westville Borough on unrelated warrants. Thomson was transported to the West Deptford Police Department for processing.

During an interview, Thomson, admitted to committing the burglary. He stated that Whyte was not involved in the burglary, but did sell the property for him.

One burglary took place at a home on July 29, where about $10,000 in jewelry and electronics was stolen.

A second burglary took place on Aug. 3. About $14,133 was stolen, and Thomson admitted he and Heffernan sold jewelry from this burglary at a second hand dealer in Camden City for about $300.

Heffernan, who was already in police custody, was charged on a summons in Westville Borough for receiving stolen property.
