About LUCY

LUCY (Lifting Up Camden’s Youth) Outreach, a nonprofit organization, is a lifeline for at-risk teens in Camden, NJ. One of six ministries of St. Joseph’s Pro-Cathedral supported by The Joseph Fund – LUCY provides a safe place for Camden’s youth to gain valuable life skills, increase confidence and receive academic instruction and spiritual and social support.

Annually, LUCY provides services to more than 350 youth between 12-19 years old and provides a mentor program for high school graduates ages 18-25. For eight weeks in the summer, LUCY Outreach provides a safe haven for youth who are unable to find summer employment. Day and evening programs are available seven days a week.

Since LUCY Outreach began in 2008, 100% of its students have graduated from high school and 97% have gone on to college. This incredible statistic is in contrast to the low graduation rate in the city of Camden, NJ. LUCY Outreach is in need of funds to ensure the needs of the youth of Camden and to never turn a teen away from the program.

With just two full time paid staff members, LUCY relies heavily on volunteers and funding from grants and private donations. LUCY empowers youth to form healthy relationships, make good choices, and develop into compassionate and socially responsible adults who make a positive difference in their community.
