If you are trying to trim the midsection ( obliques) and you still have some fat to lose don’t go to heavy. While this is great for muscle definition and core strength it could make the sides thicker in the short term if muscle gains are quicker then fat loss in that area.
Another take home point is that spot reduction does not happen. This means you can’t target the fat in a certain area of your body that you’d like to lose the fat from more then another. Fat in the body is burned from the areas that have the most fat typically and or where fat cells have the most fat breaking down enzymes called Lipolytic Enzymes. The more of these a fat cell has the easier it is for it to break the fat down to send into the blood stream for energy. When you use your arms you burn fat from your core and your legs and your arms and your butt and every other place you store fat. When you work your core you burn fat from your core and your legs and your arms and your butt and every other place you store fat. When you work your core you burn fat from you guessed it your core and your legs and your arms and your butt and every other place you store fat. So no matter what area you are working out the percentage of fat being broken down will be the same from any given area , so don’t focus tons of work by working an area you are trying to burn fat from and instead focus on exercises that burn the most fat overall.
