Youth Police Academy Openings Available
Free classes are scheduled for the first three Saturdays in March.

The county's sheriff's office announced that openings are still available for the first of two planned Youth Police Academies held this spring.
The classes are scheduled for Saturday, March 5, 12 and 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Human Services Facility on Woodlane Road in Westampton. They are open to kids aged 7 to 12.
“This is an exciting opportunity for children to get a close-up look at police work and also learn how they can protect themselves,” said Sheriff Jean Stanfield in a release.

The courses include canine and tactical SWAT team demonstrations. Participants will learn about gun, fire and bike safety, as well as the dangers of gangs and how to avoid abduction.
Students will also learn marching and drilling, and have a graduation ceremony with T-shirt and certificate. A second academy will be held in May.
