Student Looking for Bus Stop Mistaken for Attempted Lurer, Cops Say

Morris Twp. police said teen girl misidentified fellow student.

The 14-year-old girl who reported to police a Hispanic male may have tried to lure her from a school bus stop Wednesday morning accidentally misidentified the person, Morris Township Police said.

The teen, waiting alone at 6:55 a.m. at a bus stop on Woodland Avenue, said a vehicle parked across the street from her, and a male came out of the passenger side and began to approach her, Chief John McGuinness said Wednesday.

That person approaching her turned out to be a fellow student who missed his bus pick-up for Morristown High School and was hoping to join the girl at her stop, McGuinness said.
