25th Annual Fr. Harvey Haberstroh, S.J. Memorial Golf Classic on A.W. Tillinghast Course

Loyola Jesuit Center, a sacred space for spiritual growth, prayer and reflection located in Morristown, N.J., will be hosting its 25th Annual Father Harvey Haberstroh, S.J. Memorial Golf Classic on Thursday, September 15, 2016. Special guest for golf and dinner will be former Loyola Director and Retreat Master, Rev. Bill Poorten, S.J., who dedicated twenty-five years of love and service to this important ministry.

Golfers will enjoy a round of golf at the A.W. Tillinghast designed Suburban Golf Club in Union, N.J. The course features nearly 6,500 yards of tree lined fairways, rolling greens and challenging bunkers. The cost is $350 per golfer which includes brunch, on-course refreshments, a cocktail reception and dinner. An awards ceremony, silent auction for sports memorabilia and entertainment experiences and a 50/50 raffle will also be held. Participants will be able to enter various competitions held in conjunction with the golf tournament like the Hole-in-One, Putting and Pot O’ Gold contests for prizes. Fette Ford is generously donating a new car to the winner of the Hole-in-One challenge. Non-golfers may purchase tickets at $100 each which includes cocktails and dinner.

Harvey was a man of joy, energy and generosity who became Loyola’s Director in 1960 and spent more than twenty years leading retreats and giving spiritual direction,” said Renee Owens, Director of the Work. “The atmosphere at our tournament embodies Fr. Harvey’s spirit as participants enjoy golf, fellowship and good food while supporting Loyola’s mission of meeting people where they are in their spiritual lives and providing new pathways for spiritual growth and development.”

Sponsorship opportunities are currently available at all levels ranging from Presenting Sponsor at $10,000, Event Sponsor at $5,000, Golf Cart Sponsor at $4,000, Award Sponsor at $2,000 and others. Sponsorships details can be provided with inquiry. Additionally, Hole sponsorships are still available for $250 and there are opportunities to sponsor a Jesuit Father at $350 for the entire event or $100 for dinner.

Proceeds from the Fr. Harvey Haberstroh, S.J. Memorial Golf Classic will go directly to the operations of the Center, allowing Loyola to continue its free will offering policy of accepting donations of any size for its retreats and providing future generations seeking spiritual discernment a sacred space to come to be refreshed and renewed.
