MORRIS, NJ — As a powerful nor'easter whips through the county, dumping half a foot of snow on some towns, over 51,000 homes are without power, according to JCP&L.

A quarter of the county is currently dark, but that number is much higher in some areas. Mendham Borough has 70 percent of its homes without power, and 60 percent of Mine Hill is dark. Other towns, like Kinnelon, are seeing less than 5 homes affected.

Governor Phil Murphy said his administration was aware of the widespread power outages, and was monitoring them.

"Big concerns that I would express would be downed power lines. So if you’re in a car, or worse, or more importantly, if you’re on foot, be very careful. Obviously be very careful driving. Personal recommendation would be to use your discretion and if you don’t have to get out and do something I’d probably suggested you take the alternative of staying back. We’ll continue to monitor this. If it gets meaningfully worse in any way we’ll be back to you in some official capacity," Murphy said at an event Thursday afternoon.

If you do lose power, here's how to report it, according to JCP&L:
