Congregation Beth Hatikvah (CBH) will celebrate LGBTQ Pride month on June 10th with a wine and cheese reception at 4:30 pm and a visit from Abby Stein, who will share her unusual and inspirational story of transition from Hasidic rabbi to transgender activist.
Ms. Stein, a direct descendant of the Baal Shem Tov, founder of the Hasidic movement, attended yeshiva and completed a rabbinical degree in 2011. She chose to leave the Hasidic world soon after to explore different world views. In 2015, she came out as “a woman of trans experience,” and since then has been working to raise support and awareness for trans rights and those leaving Ultra-Orthodoxy.
This event is open to the public, with a suggested donation of $5 in advance or at the door. For advance tickets, register here.
