Frelinghuysen Contacted USPS Over Chatham Mail Problems

'It has been brought to my attention that service at their Post Office has gone from bad to worse,' read a letter Frelinghuysen sent.

CHATHAM, NJ — Morris County Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen's office said he, too, had a role to play in getting the U.S. Postal Service to take Chatham residents' complaints about mail delivery seriously.

Rep. Frelinghuysen, a veteran Republican member of the House who represents New Jersey's 11th District, wrote the above letter Nov. 27 to the director of the USPS in Northern New Jersey, saying he had been getting repeated complaints about mail delivery in Chatham.

"It has been brought to my attention by the Mayor of Chatham Borough, Bruce Harris, that the service at their Post Office has gone from bad to worse," read the letter. "I, too, have been hearing from constituents." Related: Chatham Mayor To Meet With Postal Service About Mail Problems

Many Chatham residents have complained about mail delivery this this past October and November, with many saying that mail arrives late or is not even delivered at all. The U.S. Postal Service said the problems may be because there have been some retirements at the Chatham post office.

“In recent weeks, my office was contacted by constituents, and Mayors Bruce Harris and Curt Ritter, about specific concerns about Postal Service delivery issues in the Chathams," said Rep. Frelinghuysen. "I immediately wrote to the Postal Service and helped arrange a meeting with local elected officials this week. Of course, we will continue to encourage the USPS to take timely corrective action.”
