Impending Blizzard Extends Free Garage Parking for Morristown Residents

Storm could bring more than a foot of snow to the area, forecasters predict.

With a nor’easter expected to wallop northern New Jersey between Monday morning and Tuesday afternoon, Morristown, in conjunction with the town’s Parking Authority, has extended its free garage parking to residents.

Free parking at Dalton, Ann/Bank, DeHart, and Vail garages will continue through Thursday, Jan. 29 at 9 a.m., the mayor’s office announced Sunday afternoon.

The garages were originally opened to residents at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, and were set to be available and free to Morristown residents until 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25.

The expected storm did its damage Friday night into Saturday, depositing anywhere between four and eight inches across Morris County.

A blizzard watch was put into effect Sunday morning for all of northern New Jersey, with anywhere between six and 16 inches of snow expected to blanket the area, accompanied by high winds, beginning Monday morning.

Parking will be free to residents who show valid driver’s license identification with Morristown address upon exiting the garage. Anyone who stays beyond 9 a.m. Thursday will be subject to parking fees.
