MORRISTOWN, NJ — High school graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2020 have taken on a new look thanks to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. And yet, while some of the traditional aspects of the teenage rite of passage such as the tossing of caps and the distribution of diplomas isn’t part of this year’s graduations, in-person celebrations are still taking place.

Morristown High School continued with social-distanced ceremonies on Thursday with the final of three graduations that have been held over the past two days. School officials have followed guidelines set in place by Gov. Phil Murphy, who indicated that in-person ceremonies can take place but only if guidelines are followed.

Masks have been required at the graduation celebrations, to which each senior was allowed to bring no more than two family members or guests. Ceremonies have included a roll call of graduates as the school recognized a class of students that will be remembered for a very different senior year.
