Morristown's Plan For Outdoor Dining Expansion 'Rejected:' Mayor
Tim Dougherty said they asked for approval to close parts of South Street weeks ago, and were denied.

MORRISTOWN, NJ - It seemed like a no-brainer, close sections of South Street to allow for outdoor dining along the thoroughfare to take place as soon as the executive orders regarding COVID-19 spread were eased.
But the state of New Jersey did not agree, according to Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty.
"I'm getting a lot of e-mails and a lot of calls about shutting down South Street. We put the request in weeks ago," Dougherty said. "We were denied the request to shut down parts of South Street for the reopening of our outside shopping and dining. The state has rejected our request, I want the public to know that."
