New Jersey Assemblywoman Mila Jasey visits CSE

On April 26, Assemblywoman Mila Jasey, who represents the 27th Legislative District of New Jersey, visited the College of Saint Elizabeth, met with students and college leadership to discuss the importance of independent higher education and her passion for education

"Meeting with the Assemblywoman was an awesome experience," says Damara Banton, '20. "She took the time to listen to our stories and hear about how much CSE means to all of us and how it's shaped us into who we are today."

Jasey, who was sworn into the New Jersey General Assembly in November of 2007, serves as the chair of the higher education committee, the vice-chair of the housing and community development committee and the vice-chair of the education committee.

"Assemblywoman Jasey is really trying to make a difference in our education system," says Daniella Demorales, '21. "Meeting her has really opened my eyes and motivated me to make a difference in the world."
Jasey's fierce advocacy for making education accessible for all individuals, especially those who do not have a strong financial or familial support systems, deeply impressed our students.

"She is an inspiration to all of us," says Taylor Veve, '20. "She has dedicated her life to giving back to the community."

The meeting commenced with discussions about why our students chose CSE and their plans for the future. Assemblywoman Jasey offered many inspiring stories and comments supportive of the students and higher education in New Jersey.

"I can confidently say that there are people out there, like Assemblywoman Jasey, who truly care about the education of young people like myself," says Simone Robinson, '19. "I left the meeting feeling like my voice had been heard."
