Police Urge Caution As Thunderstorms Roll Into Morristown
According to police, the expected afternoon storm could be severe.
MORRISTOWN, NJ — Forecasters predict severe thunderstorms will hit New Jersey on Monday afternoon, with wind gusts up to 60 mph, large hail and possible flash flooding.
The Morristown Police Department has issued an advisory, urging residents to exercise caution and report any power outages in the area. Heavy rain is expected to begin falling in northwestern New Jersey between 3 and 5 p.m.
"Some of the storms could be severe," police said.

Today: Showers and thunderstorms are possible, followed by showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 5 p.m. Severe storms with large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain are possible. The temperature will be around 77 degrees. Winds from the south at 5 to 10 mph. The likelihood of precipitation is 80 percent.
Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms are expected, mainly before 10 p.m. Some of the storms have the potential to be severe. Low around 55 degrees. Winds from the west at 5 to 10 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph. The likelihood of precipitation is 80 percent.Power outages should be reported to JCP&L at (888)-544-4877.
