Sussex Man IDed As Person Killed By Train In Morris Twp

It's not clear what the man was doing on the tracks.

MORRIS TWP, NJ — Authorities have identified the man struck and killed by a train in Morris Twp Monday morning as Robert A. Matchett, 57, of Sussex.

Matchett was struck and killed at 10:26 a.m. near the Convent Station in Morris Township, Jim Smith, an NJT spokesperson told Patch. It was not immediately clear why Matchett was on the tracks.

None of the 50 passengers or crew onboard the train were injured.

Service was suspended for nearly three hours as an investigation was completed. The results have not yet been made public.
