Thirteen Taiwanese Delegates Visit Unity Charter School in Morristown

MORRISTOWN, NJ – Thirteen delegates from Taiwan visited Unity Charter School in Morristown Wednesday morning as part of an Eco-Campus Partnership program that connects American and Taiwanese schools. The group of educators and environmental leaders observed how Unity's campus stays eco-friendly, Daily Record reports.
The group of delegates is sponsored by the National Wildlife Federation. They visit various schools per day across the U.S. The program ultimately hopes to match every school in Taiwan with a school in the U.S. So far in two years, 120 schools from the two countries have been paired up.
Unity students shared their sustainability and ecology principles with the delegates, and students gave the delegates a tour of the vegetarian kitchen. The delegates tried food from Unity's "earth to table" menu – some of the items are grown in Unity's garden.

Jennifer Carcich, the Science Teacher & Sustainability Coordinator at Unity, said the school has communicated with people at Guo-Yi Elementary School in Taiwan for about twelve years. Carcich event went to Taiwan over the summer as part of the program.
“It just goes to show you that caring for the planet is worldwide. All of Taiwan is incredibly sustainable. They compost country-wide, which they use to feed their livestock. Recycling is a must," Carcich said.
