Tropical Storm Henri Moves Through Morristown, Causing Floods

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Power outages and flooding peppered the region as Tropical Storm Henri pushed through New Jersey this weekend. Some of its effects were felt in Morristown.

A fallen tree delayed operations Monday morning on New Jersey Transit's Morris & Essex Line. The incident, reported at about 8 a.m., caused power issues overhead and temporarily suspended service between Dover and Madison.

Officials measured 5.59 inches of rain for the area in the past 48 hours. The Whippany River and Cauldwell Playground also flooded in Morristown, according to Morristown Green.

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for the Pompton River, which runs into Morris County. The warning lasts until 2 p.m. Monday.

The Morristown forecast calls for likely showers and thunderstorms before noon, then possibly a thunderstorm between 12-1 p.m., with a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Henri brought downpours throughout the weekend, peaking at 8.91 inches of rain in Cranbury.
