5 Newark Residents Reported Missing This Week, New Searches Announced

An elderly man and a teen are the latest Newark residents to be reported missing. Three youths have also recently gone missing in the city.

NEWARK, NJ — Two more people have been reported missing in Newark, bringing the total number of missing persons cases to five this week in the city, authorities announced Wednesday.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, police are seeking the public’s help finding Willie Allen, 82, of Newark, who was reported missing on Wednesday.

“Mr. Allen, who a neighbor reports as suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s, was last seen at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Columbia Avenue near Plymouth Street, entering his vehicle, a 2021 gray Honda CRV wagon with NJ plate No. HX5544.”

Newark police continued:

“While detectives are actively searching for Mr. Allen, we seek the public’s help in quickly locating him. He is described as 5 feet 10 inches and 180 pounds, with a bald head and brown eyes. Mr. Allen also uses a prosthetic right leg due to a previous amputation. He was wearing a black shirt with burgundy stripes, black jeans, beige shoes and a dark-colored baseball cap.”

Meanwhile, police are also searching for Treonna Jones, 16, of Newark, who was reported missing on Aug. 17.

According to Newark police, Jones was last seen on the 100-block of Pine Grove Terrace wearing a black shirt and pink crocs. Jones, who is known to frequent Atlantic City, is 5 feet 1 inch and 155 pounds with brown eyes, black hair and a dark-brown skin complexion.

Authorities said anyone with information about either missing person can call the Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
