How To Expunge A Criminal Record In New Jersey: Newark Workshop

What's an "expungement," and how can it help you if you have a criminal record? Find out on Feb. 18 at this free Newark seminar.

NEWARK, NJ — What’s an “expungement,” and how can it help you if you have a criminal record?

“When a person is arrested, or charged with any non-traffic offense, that person gets a criminal record,” NJexpungements.com explains. “Upon successful completion of [the expungement] process, you get a court order signed by a judge… Persons doing a background check through New Jersey State Police or through the FBI will receive a response that there is ‘no record.’ Additionally, after you expunge your criminal record, you are legally entitled to state that the arrest or conviction never happened.”

On Saturday, Feb. 18, Newark and Essex County officials will host a free expungement information session at the Grand Lodge of New Jersey, 188-190 Irvine Turner Boulevard in Newark.
