Newark Cops Arrest 214 People During Month-Long Drug Operation
Newark police said the ongoing narcotics operation was spurred after police received "complaints from concerned citizens."

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police arrested more than 200 people in a single month during an ongoing narcotics operation that is targeting gun and drug offenses in the city, authorities say.
From April 21 to May 20, police arrested 214 individuals, recovered 20 firearms and confiscated 2,163 decks of heroin, 1,076 vials and/or bags of cocaine, 480 plastic bags of marijuana and 11 unidentified pills, as well as $16,071 in cash from suspected drug sales.
The estimated street value of the seized drugs was $41,747, authorities said.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the ongoing operation was spurred after police received “complaints from concerned citizens.”

“This operation is producing tangible results largely due to the law-abiding citizens who are increasingly coming forward with information to assist us to make Newark safer,” Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said.
