Newark Cops Arrest Man Suspected Of Killing Local Woman

Authorities have arrested a Newark man in connection with the murder of a 48-year-old woman on Norfolk Street.

Newark, NJ – Authorities have arrested a Newark man in connection with the murder of a 48-year-old woman on Norfolk Street last week.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, police have charged Michael McCormick, 55, of Newark, with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose in connection with the death of Sharon Hollie on May 12.

Hollie was found dead in her apartment on the 100 block of Norfolk Street, prosecutors said.

McCormick was arrested on May 13 following an investigation by the Essex County Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department.

According to prosecutors, McCormick - who was allegedly in a relationship with Hollie – was assigned a $1 million bail.
