NEWARK, NJ — Newark city inspectors said that they expect to issue several local businesses summonses after conducting an operation last week, part of a two-week campaign that has resulted in the closure of two stores.

The most recent operation – a partnership between the city’s police and fire divisions, code enforcement inspectors and health department officials – took place on Clinton Avenue between Martin Luther King Boulevard and Washington Street.

During last week’s operation, city inspectors declined to close any of the visited businesses. But inspectors said that “several are expected to receive citations for infractions ranging from expired paperwork, ceiling tile violations and other code violations.”
