Newark has hit a sweltering new milestone.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark has reached a sweltering, weather-related milestone, weather experts say.

On Tuesday, the National Weather Service’s (NWS) New York bureau announced that temperature readings in Newark hit 90 degrees. It marked the 18th day in August that the site at Newark Airport has seen temperatures that high.

“This means that August 2022 now has the most 90°+ days recorded in a single August since record keeping began in 1931,” the NWS stated.
