Rutgers Student Robbed Near Newark Campus Residence Hall: Police
The Rutgers student told police that he was robbed during a "pre-arranged meeting" with two men near a Newark college residence hall.

NEWARK, NJ — The Rutgers University Police Department is investigating an alleged robbery that took place at a campus residence hall on Tuesday night, authorities say.
According to a Rutgers news alert, the incident reportedly took place around 11 p.m. at the University Square Residence Hall at 155 University Avenue.
The victim – a Rutgers University student – told police that he had planned a “pre-arranged” meeting with two men. However on arrival, the men grabbed him from behind, demanded that he hand over personal items and then fled the area on foot, authorities said.

The student sustained minor physical injuries during the encounter but declined medical attention, police said.
The victim described one suspect as a light-complexioned black or Hispanic male about six feet, wearing black pants and a black-hooded sweatshirt. He described the second suspect as a black male about 5 feet 6 inches, wearing tight blue jeans and a black t-shirt.

Rutgers authorities stated Wednesday that patrols have been increased in the area.
