Traffic Delays Near I-78 In Newark: Overturned Tractor Trailer Closes 1&9 Ramp

NEWARK, NJ — An overturned tractor trailer caused delays on US 1&9 in Essex County on Monday afternoon, authorities say.

According to 511NJ.org, an overturned tractor trailer was causing a 15 to 20-minute delay on US 1&9 in both directions on ramps to and from I-78 in Newark as of 12:25 p.m.

An update around 12:38 p.m. stated that the accident caused “property damage” and left the tractor trailer disabled on US 1&9 local lanes northbound South of Haynes Avenue in Newark, with the right lane closed and a five to 10-minute delay expected.
