Jewish Historical Society of Central Jersey Spring Meeting

The Jewish Historical Society of Central Jersey will hold its
annual Spring Meeting on June 3 at 1:30 p.m. at Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, 222 Livingston Ave.

The guest speaker will be Dr. Nathan Reiss, who will give a lecture titled “Tsars, Stalin, Perestroika and Jewish Grandmothers: Jewish Immigrants to Central New Jersey from the Former Soviet Union”.

Last year, the JHSCJ began a project to chronicle the lives and experiences of recent Jewish immigrants from the Former Soviet Union. Dr. Reiss’ illustrated lecture will share the results of his interviews and research.

Dr. Reiss, President of the Jewish Historical Society of Central Jersey, is a retired Rutgers professor and an acclaimed genealogist. He recently published “Some Jewish Families of Hesse and Galicia”, a book that represents his extensive research of his own family roots.
