The League of Women Voters of New Jersey will host an educational forum, “Modern Day Slavery: Human Trafficking in New Jersey" on April 21, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
from 9 a.m. to 12:30 pm at Rutgers University, Douglass Campus, Loree Building, in New Brunswick.
Speakers include experts who work to help victims and prosecute human trafficking criminals. Dorchen A. Leidholdt, Director of Sanctuary for Families, a nonprofit agency dedicated to assisting sex trafficking victims and their children will open the program. Attendees will also hear from Kaitlyn Keisel, State Director, Polaris Project NJ and Jamé Bolds of FREE International. Deputy State Attorney General and Director of the New Jersey Human Trafficking Task Force Asha Vaghela will share New Jersey’s efforts to eradicate this crime. A human trafficking survivor will share her harrowing story with attendees.
Members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend. The registration cost is $15. Rutgers students are invited to attend for free, but are still asked to register.
