Nationally-acclaimed storyteller, author, and educator Laura Simms leads the Preschool Educators Workshop on Tuesday, March 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. Stories Make The World: Imagination, Storytelling, and Young Children guides teachers who seek to inspire their students to express themselves through storytelling. The physical and imaginative nature of storytelling engages preschoolers to have fun, while strengthening their listening, reading, and communication skills. Simms instructs educators how to lead students in creating a personal family tale, which instills children with a sense of belonging and history, and to incorporate techniques that hold youngsters' attention when they are exposed to longer stories. Question and answer sessions, as well as handouts, enhance an understanding of the process. Space is limited to 35 educators. Each participant receives three professional development credit hours for attending the program. Refreshments will be served. Please call 732.932.7237, ext. 640 for more information or to register.
