Firefighter Got $42K in Disability While On the Job, Prosecutor Says
New Brunswick firefighter Dell Walker collected hefty disability payments while working as a firefighter, prosecutors allege.

So you can work as a firefighter and collect disability at the same time?
That’s the scam New Brunswick firefighter Dell Walker allegedly tried to pull, charges Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey.
Walker, a 54-year-old New Brunswick resident, was arrested late in the day Friday.

He stole thousands of dollars by filing a phony disability claim while continuing to work for the city and collect a paycheck, according to New Brunswick Police Director Anthony Caputo.
Walker filed the disability claim in December 2013 and collected payments totaling $42,000. He continued to forge paperwork so he could keep receiving the disability checks while he kept working as a firefighter, officials charge.

It was city officials who uncovered Walker’s alleged theft and contacted police.
Walker was charged with insurance fraud, theft and forgery.
Bail was set at $30,000 Friday.
