Man Sexually Touched Female Rutgers Students On Campus, Police Charge

Police say they apprehended the man accused of groping two female Rutgers students​ as they walked through the College Avenue campus Monday:

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Police say they apprehended the man accused of groping two female Rutgers students as they walked through the College Avenue campus Monday night, and who approached a third young woman Tuesday night.

The man has been identified as Jose Paulino II, 32, of New Brunswick, said Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Rutgers Police Chief Kenneth Cop.

He was charged in connection with multiple incidents of sexual contact and attempted sexual contact of women near the Rutgers College Avenue campus. All of the incident took place in the areas of Bishop Place, Sicard Street and the intersection of Hamilton Street and Easton Avenue during the evening hours of Monday and Tuesday this week, Oct. 30 and Oct. 31.

On Monday night, two female Rutgers students, each walking alone, independently reported being inappropriately sexually touched and harassed by an unknown man. Then on Tuesday night, a third female Rutgers student reported that the unknown man tried to inappropriately touch her, but she managed to get away.

Paulino was arrested Tuesday and charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, fourth-degree attempted criminal sexual contact, harassment and simple assault. On Wednesday, he was additionally charged with one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.

The investigation and his arrest was done by Detective Ryan Stolte of the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, Detective Jeff Monticello of the New Brunswick Police Department and Sergeant Matthew Oblad of the Rutgers University Police Department.
