New Brunswick Schools Closed Monday
One elementary school was turned into an emergency homeless shelter over the weekend. Rutgers will be open as usual Monday.

New Brunswick, NJ - New Brunswick public schools will not be open on Monday, Jan. 25, as New Brunswick digs itself from under 24 inches of snow.

Rutgers University will be open, but some individual classes may be canceled. Rutgers will run its weekend bus and dining hall schedules.

If your regular recycling pickup is on Mondays, it has been rescheduled to Saturday, January 30. Residents should place recycling out on Friday night after 5 p.m.

Lord Stirling Community School, on Redmond Street, was turned into an emergency shelter for the homeless two nights in a row, Saturday and Sunday. That’s because the city’s regular shelter, Elijah’s Promise, was full Saturday night, with 42 people. Nine people stayed at Lord Stirling School Saturday.
