A 28-year-old man has died at a hospital just hours after he struggled with police, according to authorities.

A 28-year-old man has died at a hospital just hours after he struggled with police who revived him when they found him laying on a New Jersey street, according to authorities.

The death was reported to the state Office of the Attorney General, in accordance with use-of-force guidelines.

Daniel Nagahama of Edison, who was pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital on Thursday at 8:28 p.m, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.

The results of an autopsy were not immediately available, Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey said in a release. The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the death.

Nagahama was taken to the hospital after police stopped to assist the man, who was found on South Fifth Avenue in Highland Park on Thursday at 5:15 p.m.

As police attempted to revive him, Nagahama became belligerent and struggled with police. He was not placed under arrest, but was taken to the hospital by rescue workers.
