Nine New Brunswick Officers Promoted

Nine New Brunswick police officers were recently promoted to ranks ranging from sergeant to captain.

“It is a privilege to be a New Brunswick Police Officer and a distinct honor to be selected as a supervisor,” Police Director Anthony Caputo said in a prepared statement. “These men have proven themselves as leaders and are among the sharpest minds in our police department. They are all deserving of their respective promotions.”

The officers took their oaths at an Aug. 12 ceremony at New Brunswick High School.

Here’s the list of promoted officers:

• Detective Brandon Epstein to the rank of Sergeant 

• Officer Mark Cichowski to the rank of Sergeant 

• Sgt. William Oels III to the rank of Lieutenant
• Sgt. Michael Yurkovic to the rank of Lieutenant
• 
Sgt. Amish Shah to the rank of Lieutenant
• 
Sgt. Raymond Trigg to the rank of Lieutenant 

• Sgt. Daniel Dominguez to the rank of Lieutenant
• 
Sgt. John Doyle to the rank of Lieutenant 

• Lt. Michael Bobadilla to the rank of Captain


 Last year, 20 new officers joined the force and five more are expected to begin training soon at the police academy. In a prepared statement, Mayor Jim Cahill stressed the importance of strong leadership on the force.

“Our City deserves nothing but the best, and it is because of the caliber of the officers we employ and the dedication, commitment and professionalism of Director Caputo and our law enforcement leaders that our police department grows even stronger, more effective and better positioned to serve and protect our community,” Cahill said.
