Black and Latino students are invited to take part in the event, which honored the graduates through poems, songs, speeches and presentation of special stoles to each graduate, handmade and imported from Ghana.

According to Rutgers spokesman Steve Manas, 1,500 black and Latino students are in the current graduating class.
