Spencer Savings Bank Hosts Mock Job Fair at Eva’s Village in Support of Community Workforce Development

Spencer Savings Bank, a community bank headquartered in Elmwood Park, N.J., showed its continuous support for Eva’s Village, a non-profit social services organization in Paterson, N.J., dedicated to changing the lives of the hungry, homeless and addicted, by conducting a Mock Job Fair for the organization’s clients on March 14, 2013.
During the Mock Job Fair, a team of five Bank employees sat with attendees and gave them the opportunity to practice their interviewing skills. After the mock interviews, Bank employees shared feedback, referring to their own interviewing experiences to help raise attendees’ self-esteem and offer them encouragement.
“We are proud to continuously show our support for Eva’s Village and the comprehensive approach the organization takes to improving the lives of so many people in our community,” said José B. Guerrero, Chairman, President and CEO of Spencer Savings Bank. “We realize that the organization’s Workforce Development Program relies on dependable and willing volunteers in order to truly fulfill its mission, and we consider it a privilege to support the personal development of the organization’s clients as they work toward achieving their goals.”

Puma in response to the increasing incidence of homelessness in his Paterson, NJ parish. But Msgr. Puma soon realized that a soup kitchen was not enough. With the generous support of thousands of donors and private and government grants, Eva's has grown into the most respected anti-poverty program in New Jersey.
