Bergen Man Commits Suicide By Getting Hit By Train: Police
The 47-year-old Dumont man walked onto the railroad tracks and was hit by a freight train in Bergenfield, police said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A county man committed suicide by walking in front of train in Bergenfield Tuesday morning, police said.
Officers responded to West Central Avenue and Church Street at about 8:18 a.m. after a CSX freight train came to a sudden stop, Bergenfield Police said in a news release.
Officers found a man who was struck by the train lying on the railroad tracks, police said.

The train was traveling southbound when the engineer activated the emergency brakes after he saw the man on the tracks, police said.
An investigation revealed that the man parked his vehicle in a nearby parking lot, walked to the tracks and stood on them, police said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and CSX Police and Bergen County Sheriff's officers responded to assist, authorities said.
The man was a 47-year-old from Dumont. The man's family was notified, police said.
