Bergen Terror Victim's Dad Is 'Absolutely Hurt' Over Son's Death

Drake, 32, a project manager for Moody's, died Oct. 31 when a truck careened down a bike path on New York's West Side, killing 8 people.

NEW MILFORD, NJ — James Drake is not angry at the man accused of killing his son, Darren, in the recent New York City terror attack. He's hurt.

"I'm not even angry. I'm not angry at all. I'm absolutely hurt," James Drake said in an interview with ABC 7 recently about the death of his son, Darren, 32.

Darren Drake and seven other people were killed when authorities say Sayfullo Saipov used a Home Depot truck he rented from a Passaic County store to run over him and more than a dozen other people on a bike path on Manhattan's West Side.

"That's my baby," James Drake told ABC7 as he cried.

Darren Drake was an avid reader. He listened to audiobooks while he rode Citi bikes in New York City. Riding bikes helped him lose more than 100 pounds. He was a past president of the New Milford Board of Education. He served on the board from 2009 to 2013.

Darren Drake graduated from New Milford High School in 2003. He earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Rutgers University's School of Arts and Sciences and a master's degree in Management Information Systems from Fairleigh Dickinson University, his obituary states. He was a project manager for Moody's.
