This year there are three candidates running unopposed for the New Milford Board of Education.
New Milford Patch asked the candidates to respond to a brief survey about who they are, what they think is important to New Milford schools and why they are running for office.
Name: Florence "Peggy" Saslow

Age: 87
Occupation: Retired as a teacher from the New Milford school district in 1993 and prior to that career she was a dietician

Family: Three children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren
Bio: Saslow is a graduate of Simmons College in Boston and serves on the New Milford Senior Citizen Club as a representative of the New Milford Jewish Center and is a member of the Friends of the New Milford Public Library. She is also active with Tennis for Life, a support group for breast cancer survivors at the Ridgewood Racquet Club and was the group's first annual honoree in 2010.
What is your experience and what would you bring to the BOE?
I am currently a member of the New Milford Board of Education. My primary focus has always been delivering quality education to the children of New Milford.
What are your greatest accomplishments on the Board of Education?
I have been consistently involved with grassroot efforts to improve public education and to inform legislators of our concerns and needs.
What do you plan to focus on during this term in office?
I join the National School Board and Board of Education members from across the country in "lobbying" our members of Congress to make a commitment to public education and to the children of this nation.
Why are you running for a seat on the Board of Education?
I am running for the Board of Education to continue my efforts to make the New Milford Public School system an object of great pride.As a mother and teacher I believe I have the experience and ability to move us forward and achieve my goal of excellence for the children of New Milford.
Registered voters will head to the polls on Wednesday, April 27.
