As I was working on my new garden, I started to think about how much better my life is now that the chickens are gone.
Here is what I came up with: My supply of eggs is almost depleted so I get to go to the grocery store and pick through packages of eggs trying to find a carton without any that are broken.
Oh the thrill.

I get to increase the amount of trash that goes to the landfill in the form of kitchen scraps that I cannot compost or feed to the dog.
Yippie.

I will have to buy compost because I will no longer have chicken waste to fertilize my garden with.
Awesome.
I was also thinking about how much better life will be for my neighbors.
Here is what I thought of: The noise the chickens made will no longer mask the sounds of lawn mowers and leaf blowers ( by the way, I use a cordless electric lawn mowers that makes very little noise and rake my leaves ). Certainly a relaxing thought.
The odor of dog poop will no longer have to compete with chicken manure. Yummy. The rats, racoons, and other vermon the chickens attracted will now have to go bother someone else.
Bye guys.
So as you can see, life on Mabie Street in New Milford is certainly much better than it was a couple of weeks ago.
And who can you thank for this new found bliss: my nosey neighbor and the board of health. Please give them a call and thank them yourselves. If you can sense a bit of sarcasm, we are on the same page.
