The NJSIAA playoffs begin today with the New Milford Knights baseball team travelling to Glen Rock High School to face the #1 seed. The Knights come in as the 16 seed. The team is led by seniors Brendan Baum, John Rugani, Michael Hackett, Peter Martin, Ryan Bigger, Eddie Valdivia, James Favia and Shane Doherty. Underclassmen Sawyer Coughlin, Kevin Soriano and Miles Viant add to the charge of the Knights offense.
The Lady Knights softball team, who face border rival Dumont in the first round, has won 8 of 9 entering the playoffs. The team has a great mix of seniors and underclassmen. Freshman shortstop Carly Lesko leads the team in RBIs. Sophomore centerfielder Angela Coughlin and freshman Erin Bigger lead the charge on defense. Junior pitcher Mackenzie Holowach has accumulated 13 wins on the mound for the 8th seeded Lady Knights. Seniors Deanne Millo, Ashley Lignos and Danielle Bejian have played great defense and have had strong seasons at the plate as well as leading the younger players off the field.
