On Wednesday, June 27th Danielle Laube and Gabe Colucci of New Milford High School attended The Record's annual Athlete of the Week dinner at the Landmark in East Rutherford. They were there for different reasons. Laube was honored as one of the traditional athletes of the week during the spring. Every winner during the school year was presented with an original drawing of him or her self by Charlie McGill, longtime artist of the Record. Danielle won her award during the softball season after a torrid week for the Lady Knights. Colucci was selected the male winner of the Charlie McGill scholarship for his character, sportmanship and dedication. The award honors a student athlete who overcomes some kind of personal debilitation during their lives. Gabriel won a $1000 scholarship for his preserverance over Nephrotic Syndrome, a disease that affects the kidneys.
