Update: Cupcake Sale Huge Success at Gibbs and Berkley
Leftover cupcakes to be sold at half-price Monday afternoon at both schools

New Milford's Relay for Life team said more than $900 was raised at Gibbs School on Friday and Berkley raised nearly $600 at dueling cupcake sales to benefit the American Cancer Society.
"The Relay for Life Team in New Milford is very happy to announce that $918 was raised at Friday's cupcake sale," the team announced in an e-mail about the sale at Gibbs. "Thanks to the many people who baked and to all that came out to support the cause and enjoy a delicious cupcake."

The first annual Relay for Life event will take place on May 20 and 21 at Gibbs School. The event raises funds for the American Cancer Society and so far the New Milford event has raised more than $23,000 and has 35 teams participating.
Gibbs Principal Scott Davies said cupcakes that weren't sold Friday will be offered for sale at dismissal on Monday afternoon. Berkley School will also be selling their extra cupcakes Monday afternoon.

"About 150 cupcakes remain," said Davies in an e-mail. "They are wrapped up and refrigerated over the weekend and will be sold at half-price (50 cents) at the front entrance only immediately after dismissal on Monday."
