Dumont High School Student In Custody Following Lockdown
A gun was found at the boy's home, according to reports.

DUMONT, NJ — A Dumont High School student was in custody and a gun was found at his home after the school was placed on lockdown Monday, according to reports. Authorities led a student away from the school in handcuffs, NBC4 reported.
The 15-year-old student made the threat on social media, which another student saw, NorthJersey.com reported. Dumont Police Chief Michael Conner said in the report that a gun was found at the student's home, according to the report.
Daily Voice reported that the student did not bring the gun to school and that the boy's mother is cooperating with authorities.

Police Chief Michael Conner told NorthJersey.com that a threat was made on social media by the 15-year-old and seen by another student. A student posted on Twitter at 1:35 p.m. that the school had been on lockdown for two hours at that point. Students reportedly hid under their desks, according to NJ.com.
MaryBeth Iacono told NJ.com that her 16-year-old daughter Gianna texted her that the school was on lockdown and that students were told to take cover under their desks. Iacono said she tried to call her daughter, who said students were told to put their phones on mute, according to the report.

A freshman inside the school texted a family member, "i love you and everyone."
"Tell them all that I love them," the student said, according to NBC4, who posted the text messages on Twitter.
Another supposed student posted on Twitter that the lockdown was "the scariest thing in my life."
A news helicopter over the school showed officers in tactical gear approaching the school to search it after a student made a threat, according to NBC4. Students were sitting on bleachers at the school's athletic field.
An unspecified student made the threat, Daily Voice reported.
Authorities searched the school after the threat was made, NBC reported.
The nature of the threat was not immediately clear, according to NBC, nor was it clear if the threat was made from inside the school.
Several worried parents were waiting across the street from the school, NorthJersey.com reported.
Conner could not be reached for comment by phone and did not respond to an email seeking comment. The Bergen County Sheriff's Office declined to comment. District Superintendent Emanuele Triggiano did not respond to emails and phone calls seeking comment.
