Extreme Heat Leads to Early Dismissals Thursday

Forecast calling for temperatures over 100 degrees

All students in the New Milford School District will have early dismissal on Thursday due to the forecast of extreme heat, according to district administrators.

Students at Berkley and Gibbs will be dismissed at 12:35 p.m. Thursday.  All activities, including Latchkey, will be closed at both schools.

Gibbs School also announced that Mrs. Horgan's End of Year Book Club Party, the 5-K Multicultural Fair and the 3rd grade bus tour of New Milford are also cancelled.

"We will do our best to reschedule these events, but please understand that there are few, if any, opportunities to do so because of other commitments," said an e-mail to Gibbs parents on Wednesday evening. "If any of the above can be rescheduled, you will be advised."

 The e-mail also advised parents that meetings with, "teachers, I&RS, CST, etc. are on unless you are contacted directly by the staff member facilitating the meeting."

DEO Middle School and New Milford High School are also dismissing students early.
