Gibbs PTO Donates Science Tables, Rugs and More

The PTO made improvements in many classrooms around the school including the new science room this winter

The B. F. Gibbs School PTO has been hard at work granting items from teacher "wish lists"and making purchases for the school's new science room.

PTO Vice President Tina Yougs said the PTO purchased six science tables and 30 chairs that were delivered to the science room in early February, in addition to other key donations.

"The aquarium has been up and running since January and that was when the new smartboard was mounted to the wall," said Youngs. "Right now we are waiting for the teachers to go through the existing experiment kits to see what else we need to buy to make lessons more current."

Youngs said in addition to the purchases for the science room, 11 new classroom carpets were purchased for grades kindergarten through grade two and one classroom received new blinds, per their request.

"We are waiting for grades three, four and five to give us their wish lists so we can purchase something for them," said Youngs. "It can be anything as long as it benefits the most children."

Youngs said the current PTO board that facilitated these school improvements are coming to the end of their terms and all five officers will be stepping down this year.

"We are hoping five new people step up and continue this great tradition," said Youngs.
