Mother of Slain New Milford Police Officer to be Laid to Rest Thursday
Agatha Woods, mother of NMPD Patrolman Ray Woods who died in the line of duty in 1972, passed away on Monday

Agatha Woods, mother of NMPD Patrolman Ray Woods who was killed in the line of duty nearly 40 years ago, passed away on Monday.
Woods was born in Jersey City and eventually settled in the borough marrying Raymond Woods. Their son, Ray Woods, was killed on Nov. 28, 1972 at the age of 26. He was an officer for five years with the department before he was killed attempting to making a rescue during a fire. He is the only member of the NMPD to have been killed in the line of duty.
Woods was a member of Church of the Ascension in New Milford and according to her obituary she was active "volunteering and participating in many of their activities."

The funeral will take place at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at The Boulevard Funeral Home on River Road where a procession will then head to St. Anne's Church in Fair Lawn for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
